Bottled Water Waste

After that mountain spring fresh water is gone what does a bottle become? Some water bottle art from the streets of Chicago:

Lake Bottle: Water, water everywhere...

Lake Bottle: Water, water everywhere...

Alley Bottle: So close yet so far.

Alley Bottle: So close yet so far.

Park Bottle: Giving off that "please recycle me" vibe

Intersection Bottle: Even in a sea of concrete it looks unnatural

Even a bottle that uses less plastic, earns money for a good cause and is carbon neutral can end up on a curb.

This is a great entry. It's upsetting that not only is the consumption of plastic water bottles increasing rapidly, but only 1 out of 5 of these bottles are recycled–the rest left to deteriorate in such places portrayed above.

It's frustrating that people are actually buying into the corporate greenwashing attempts of Nestle, Coca Cola and a slew of other corporations! Bottled water is our public, no safer and no cleaner. Let's stop this insanity and kick the bottle. Get involved by checking out http://www.thinkoutsidethebottle.org and signing the pledge!
